Our first night at sea was a rough one! We were an hour late getting to port so that pushed everything ahead!
I was up bright and early as usual and I got the others up at 8:00 and headed to Cabanas for breakfast. We ate on deck as it was a nice morning.
We had a Port Adventure booked through Disney and we had to meet in the Walt Disney Theatre for 10am. After we ate we had a little time so we met up with some characters.
It was close to 10:00 so we made our way to The Walt Disney Theatre for our excursion. We booked an excursion called Castaways Beach Escape. Once we checked in they announced that the weather was going to be a little wet and they gave us the option to cancel with a full refund. We cancelled and decided to go out on our own. We got off the ship around 10:30 and walked to the little shopping area that was only minutes away. The rain had stopped by now.
As you can see in the picture, there were a ton of guys in Orange shirts hounding us for a taxi or a tour. We decided to go to the beach that we initially had booked through Disney. It was so much cheaper to explore on our own.
The drivers in Antigua are crazy haha! It was one of the most intense drive’s I’ve had in a long time. We arrived at the beach and we arranged with our driver to pick us up around 1:30pm. We paid $6.00 per person.
Castaways Beach club is located in Jolly Harbour. Kerry and the kids played in the water and I got to relax on my beach chair. I mean we left Canada a few days ago and it was freezing, relaxing on a sandy beach was perfect!!!
We hung out for a few hours and then headed over to the taxi area. Our driver was waiting for us.
On the drive back he was telling us about their sister island, Barbuda. They were totally wiped out from the hurricane and a lot of them were living on the island of Antigua. Antigua has a population of approximately 80,000 and they speak English with a Caribbean accent.
We got back to the shopping area and we had to look for a Bracelet for Bria’s collection. We headed back to the ship around 2pm.
We headed to Cabanas for a late lunch and relaxed a little.
It was a gorgeous evening sailing away from our first port day.
Tonight is Formal Night and I LOVE Formal night. Who don’t love to dress up? Well a lot of people but I’m not one of them and thankfully Kerry loves it just as much. We took a few pictures on our verandah before heading to the Atrium for family pictures.
It’s so fun seeing everyone in their Sunday best on formal night!
Here are some of our family portraits…
We always purchase the photo package on the ship.
We got lots of photo’s and now its off to The Walt Disney Theatre to watch the show The Golden Mickeys.
We met up with Natalie, our Cruise Director when we left the show. It was pretty cool because we had her on our last cruise in 2016.
Finally it was time for Dinner! Tonight we were heading to Animator’s Palate!
This restaurant is so cool. I love it on every ship. When we arrived the restaurant was black and white.
I love the menu on the first night in Animator’s Palate.
I thoroughly enjoy the Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes and the Creamy Butternut Squash soup.
You can order as many appetizers or entree’s as you please
The kids were in a Mickey’s Mac & Cheese mood
Our servers were amazing again tonight, they really make your vacation special!
Remember how I said the restaurant was black and white when we entered? Sorcerer Mickey arrived and transformed it with splashes of color…
We stopped for a few pictures on our way out
We headed to the Atrium and it was the perfect time to catch a few characters. This is another thing I love about Disney cruising…no wait times for characters.
Back to the room to get in our pj’s (I made the shirts for the family). Bria, Kerry and I decided it was a great time to deliver a few fish extender gifts. Maison was at Vibe with Brody.
I don’t see any point in going to bed tonight because I’m not going to sleep.
PEACE OUT ANTIGUA…THIS GAL IS GOING TO ST. LUCIA TOMORROW! EEEKKKKKKKKKKKK!!
