Our family has always been a part of the hockey world. Growing up I would spend time watching it with my Uncle. Through my teenage years, I spent almost all my weekends at the local arena cheering on the boys from school and little did I know, I was going to marry the goalie! On any given Saturday, you will find Hockey Night in Canada on at our house and hear a lot of conversations on the phone regarding hockey.
Bria was given 4 tickets from an organization called Candlelighters. Candlelighters is a local childhood cancer support program. Bria’s name was submitted by CHEO and they got in contact with us shortly after. I cannot say enough good about how amazing this program is. They provide many services including Bria’s favorite, Courage Beads. It’s a bead collection that tells her story. She collects a bead for every needle, chemotherapy, surgery, etc.
They also offer counseling, hospital support, sibling support, Christmas parties and so much more. They also offer suite seats. This is a suite at the Canadian Tire Centre where families can take in a concert or best of all, an Ottawa Senators game.
We were gifted tickets for the suite and we are all very excited about it. It was a gorgeous sunny day and we were off to Ottawa to cheer on the Sens.
The sun was shining but it was freezing out! We’ve arrived!
We had no idea where we were going as it was our first time in a suite. It was on the 400 level so we quickly found an elevator. I found a few photo ops along the way.

We walked in and we were greeted by Jason. He is from Candlelighters and he was joining us for the game.

We went down to ice level to get a better look. Team Bria is in the building!
We headed back up to our suite. Kids had some popcorn while we waited for our pizza to arrive.

We shared the suite with another family from CHEO. It’s nice getting to know people who are going through the same as you.
